Now - Sep. 6, 2007 - MDA Telethon Online Auction (DFW, TX)
The Muscular Dystrophy Association is hosting it’s first-ever MDA Telethon Online Auction in the DFW area. The auction will be held in conjunction with the MDA Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon and will be open for bidding on August 20 through September 6, 2007. Items already donated to the auction include vacation get-a-ways, a 2007 Jeep Wrangler, a $10,000 catered dinner on the Cowboys field at Texas Stadium, season tickets to the 2007 Dallas Cowboys home games, and a “Vespa” Scooter. Sep. 1, 2007 - Annual Western Day festival (Lewisville, TX)
The Old Town Business Association, in conjunction with the City of Lewisville and more than a dozen other community groups, will present the popular Western Day festival on Saturday, Sept. 1, in Old Town Lewisville.
Headliner for this year’s event is the Randy Rogers Band, scheduled to perform at 6:30-8 p.m. Other planned activities at the family event, designed to showcase Lewisville’s rich history, include a Main Street parade, two festival stages of live music, arts and crafts vendors, gunfight re-enactments, trick ropers, car show, Longhorn cattle drive, three nights of the annual Labor Day Rodeo and the third annual World Tamale Eating Championship. Sep. 9, 2007 - 343 Memorial Climb (Frisco, TX)
On Saturday, September 9TH, 2007 from 12 – 4 pm Texans will gather at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, Texas for the 343 Memorial Climb. The climb is organized by the Fallen Heroes Family Support Fund and raises money for the families of Texas firefighters killed or injured in the line of duty. A minimum donation $5.00 is all it takes to participate. Come climb the stairs of the stadium, watch the firefighter team competition and donate blood to the Red Cross. Sep. 19 - 24, 2007 - Miss Witherspoon” by Christopher Durang (Dallas, TX)
Spirit Expressing, the theater company based in Unity Church of Dallas, will offer six performances of “Miss Witherspoon,” a provocative comedy by Christopher Durang about life, death and reincarnation. The 2007 State Fair of Texas will be held this year from Sept. 28 to Oct. 21, 2007 at the Dallas Fair Park, a 277-acre entertainment and recreation complex owned by the City of Dallas, which is located two miles east of downtown Dallas. Organized by the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, Baseball As America is the most significant exhibition of baseball artifacts and history ever assembled. The exhibition educates and informs visitors about the many ways in which this national pastime mirrors and influences the always-evolving American culture. Included in the exhibition are baseball “firsts,” such as the first ball pitched by Cy Young in the first World Series in 1903; historic photographs and artifacts from Babe Ruth, Jackie Robinson, Joe DiMaggio and a host of other heroes; and baseball nostalgia of all kinds. Sep. 29, 2007 - Walk to Cure Diabetes (Dallas & Plano, TX)
Over 15,000 walkers will come together for these 5K Walks raising money to find a cure for diabetes. The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation will host two Walks – one at Victory Park in Dallas (3090 Olive Street, Dallas 75219) and one at Granite Park in Plano (5800 Granite Parkway, Plano, 75025). This fun-filled, family-friendly event will kick-off with registration at 7:30am and the Walk starts at 9am. There is no cost to participate but Walkers that raise over $100 will receive a t-shirt.
