Doberman Pinscher Description

The appearance is that of a dog of medium size, with a body that is square. Compactly built, muscular and powerful, for great endurance and speed. He is essentially compactly built  for both endurance and speed and ideally stands at 27 1/2 inches tall for males and 2 inches less for females. Elegant in appearance, of proud carriage, reflecting great nobility and temperament. Energetic, watchful, determined, alert, fearless, loyal and obedient. Smooth - haired, short, hard, thick and close lying. Invisible gray undercoat on neck is permissible.  The color allowed for the Doberman are black, red, blue, and fawn (Isabella). Markings include rust, sharply defined, appearing above each eye and on muzzle, throat and fore chest, on all legs and feet, and below tail. White patch on chest, not exceeding 1/2 square inch is permissible in a registered through breed Doberman Pinscher.

The Doberman Pinscher excels as a family dog and guardian of home and property.  Dobermans bond closely to their family and need to be indoors with them.  They do well with children if introduced correctly.  Keenly intelligent with a strong desire to please his master, the Doberman can be trained to be a formidable guard dog of intense strength and ability.

  • Colors: Solid black, brown, blue, fawn (Isabella) with rust marking on their head, body and legs.

  • Character: Dobermans are Keenly intelligent and have a tendency to become loyal to only one person. They are brave, intelligent and and posse intense strength

  • Temperament: If properly socialized, Dobermans get along well with children, and household pets. Dobermans do not take kindly to strangers. 

  • Care: Claws must be kept short, teeth checked periodically for tartar, and dead hairs must be removed during shedding. 

  • Training: Must be very careful and consistent. Never hit a Doberman and avoid pressure on the dog during training. 

  • Activity: With the speed and tremendous stamina of this breed, they need to run and play outdoors for a few hours each day.  This is not an apartment type dog and will not be satisfied with daily walks around the neighborhood.
