Dallas Deep Ellum Restaurants

The Dallas Deep Ellum District revitalization began in the early 1980's when artists leased vacant building space for their art studios. During the next 10 years or so, other businesses like night clubs and restaurants moved in to the area. Since the early 1990's, the area became an entertainment district on the east side of Downtown Dallas. The main strip is located just east of Central Expressway (I-45) on Elm Street. The term "Deep Ellum" came from Dallas residents back in the early 1900's when this area was home to one of the earliest African American communities in Dallas. This area is very popular for it's night clubs, art, and a few of the best restaurants in the area.
